My PC died!

Hmmm, seeing what you bought new, makes me wonder how your old pc died... Did it trip at the top of the stairs? :reporter:

:D you never know mate, you never know ;)
On a serious note though, it began with bluescreens and memory modules
going bad and then everything went black! No output to screen, no nothing.

It simply died :dance2:

Nice Haja! That's not a reference 980 though is it? If you're going to get a 980 I would get one from Gigabyte or one of the other aftermarket companies...

I bet you can't wait to take delivery though :D

Ooh Nice system Haja!

Pay attention to what Little P says tho make sure it's not a ref card, and if it is swap it for a non ref like indeed the GigaByte for instance.
The aftermarket versions of that card out perform the reference card and their temperature stays lower.

I recently stopped paying attention to my temperature as the AMD R290x has a working Temp of 95 degrees celcius.

I remember playtesting the card and switch off my PC as i thought 95 degrees was way too hot :)

Anyway i am drifting off topic so before it ends in tragedy i'll wish u the best with the new rig!

You're perfectly in the clear with that card :) downside is, what are you going to look out for next..... U just reached the top gpu wise :p

Oculus Rift mate :D
Or perhaps a 4K 40" TV for gaming?!

Only downside is that if I want to run 120Hz monitors on the displayports
I need a very expensive active DP to DVI-D adapter :(
For the moment though I'm running all games on a Samsung 40" TV so
I survive with DVI-D to VGA :D. 60 Hz on 40" flying DCS or driving Assetto Corsa
is something else.

Wow great system HaJa, I'm envious!

Keep an eye on your MSI though. I moved to MSI because I heard nothing but good things about them unfortunately my experience wasn't so great.

I had one card come to me pretty much DOA as all it would do is artifact and the replacement only lasted just over a year.

I was using the Twin Frozr Editions so I'm not sure if that was relevant to the issues I had although I don't see how it could be?

Tech Support was absolutely atrocious for me as well which is why I've now converted over to EVGA.

Hmm i might be wrong, the card u linked seems reference as the one in the reviews is different with multiple fans.

Anyway i am still jealous :p

Oh Yeah OR DK2 in dcs looks magnificent!
I've been watching a couple of YouTube video's about the occulus DK2 and i am amazed what they manage to add to immersion.

I just hope it does go into mass production :)

I think the card is reference design with the fan blowing out the air in the back
and with the Nvidia vapor chamber technology on it. I think it will suffice anyway.
I have always used Gigabyte or XFX for the GPU before so we will see how it fares.

It should arrive in the mail tomorrow or latest on thursday :D

Slightly pissed off atm :(
The socket on the MB has a broken pin and the shop claims that there is no
warranty for this since I could have done it myself. Right, I've been into
electronics my entire life and this is something that's not possible to do, period. The pin is bent 90 degrees backwards and down onto the socket plastic without affecting any other pin. See attached image. Had to pay for a new MB to arrive on Tuesday. Really angry atm. and to make matters worse they say that even if the new board has broken pins they still will not reimburse me and I have to buy one more! :icon_evil:

Oh no that sucks Haja, awful customer service!

I hope you are never going to use them again :icon_eek:

You do know you can take it directly to the manufacturer and skip the retailer right, you could even throw a complaint about the reseller to the manufacturer while you're at it.

It looks like this had to be an existing error before the socket was even placed on the motherboard.

If this was induced by you there'd be a whole row of pins completely out of shape.

This would not be possible here in Austria. For the first six month the seller has to proof that it was the customers fault, if the product has a defect. Should be the same in Sweden, as I think this is EU law.
