I've ordered pc parts online before, actually back in 2005 I put together my first pc and everything came in the mail. Never had a problem but I started thinking about how much of a hassle it would be if something came broken, or not broken and became broken very quickly....
I have an option of using a brick & mortar store with competitive prices to those online called Memory Express. They also have some great sales. It's maybe a 10 minute drive from my doorstep. And when buying a processor and motherboard they'll mount the pro for free. If buying new ram, they'll use that too. A few years ago this method found one of the ram sticks I bought was dead so it was replaced, of course at no charge and just an extra 10 minutes hanging around the store. No biggie. So yeah, I buy all pc parts from them these days. If there's an issue I can drive it back to the store and argue face to face. And they're also an Alberta company so I like to keep it close to home, when I can.
Anyhoo, sorry about your luck Haja.
