Feck, it doesn't mention anything about PC:

Today, we're proud to announce that Grand Theft Auto V is expected to launch worldwide spring 2013 for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
Hey guys, glad to see so much enthusiasm about the release announcement. For those asking about the PC platform, we're currently focused on the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of the game and don't have any details to share about a PC version at this time. Anyone that continues to spam the comments section will have their commenting privileges suspended.

I'm pretty sure there will be a PC version as well. The information about the PC version for GTA 4 remained unknown for a while and was released about 7 months after the console versions came out. I'm guessing they'll be doing the same with the new game.

Now it's waiting until the PC version officially will be announced...

I don't want a sex-box because The Last of Us is a PS3 exclusive and I'm DEFINITELY going to play that game!

I think it's disgusting how RockStar is virtually ignoring PC users the past few years. I don't care if your a console of PC fanboi, it was PC that got RockStar going in the first place.

Yeah but you'll get all the cool mods for free while microsoft charge us 1 miiiillion dollars for a skin pack and different colour scooters... Swings and roundabouts mate, if I had a PC capable of running it well I'd definitely get it on PC. Fact is I spent £250 on an xbox years ago and I'm still getting to play great games without having to patch this, patch that, upgrade this or that and the other thing. Imagine the nightmare they'd have on release patching things for PC, so many different combinations they have to try and make it stable for, they probably have it ready for PC at the same time as consoles, just they need two more years to bug test, then release it and three years later you'll have a playable game! :lol:

Ok that't really an overstatement if I've ever heard one lol.

Yes you're right that it is far simpler to produce games for hardware locked in a 5 or 6 year development cycle. I understand that and can see how that would appeal to many devs however, RockStar has the resources to create for all 3 platforms and we all know it.

In fact, the whole console to PC argument is cyclic as PC starts becoming the platform of choice once the consoles end of life cycle is eminent as it is now.

What I don't understand from a PC standpoint is why game devs don't scan the PC's prior to actually installing games? I can't remember which titles it was that came out in 2011/2012, I want to say BF3 and possibly Skyrim; scanned the PC being installed to and recommended driver updates prior to play.

I think this one change to PC based software installs would help alleviate a lot of the tech support issues we constantly see in the dev forums.

I'm sure there's a plethora of other issues that have to be taken into account when developing for the PC (mondo would probably be able to give us a point form account on each) but I also think it's not as difficult as it's made out to be. I think it's just more work than consoles because like you said there are numerous Hardware/Software configs on PC.

Click here for a summary of info from the recent game informer article about gtaV.
Or if you want a lot of info about the game, click here.
Might contain spoilers.

Here's a pic of the 3 main characters. You can switch between characters at almost anytime, and while playing one, the other two will go about their bussiness by themselves. They will also do missions together at times so youj can switch roles during missions then (for example one flies a heli while the other is gunner).

Meet Michael, Franklin and Trevor;

Too bad there will be no option to buy houses or properties like in San Andreas. I always thought that was a nice addition.

Interesting to see how that character switching will work out. What will be the real addition of this? Will each char have different specialties or some sort?

Well. This game will rock anyway.

Yeah, I always liked the property buying myself too, especially things like buying a garage so you can spraypaint for free and make some money with stealing cars.

As for the 3 different characters here's some info I gathered from here and there;

- The characters will have different skillsets and seperate roles during missions (this might mean they have their own weapon sets during missions I'm assuming)
- Michael is a retired bankrobber in his 40's getting back into the game, Trevor, same age is a drugged out psychopath and Franklin is in his mid 20's and works as a repo-man.
- Each character has his own social circle (michael has a wife and son, trevor has a paranoid conspiracy theorist as a friend while franklin has a 'crazy' friend)
- Each character has unique hobbies only they can participate in

Some more news;

- The map size seems to be very big and is being described as "bigger than Red Dead Redemption, Grand Theft Auto IV and San Andreas combined."

- New York Times did an (generic) interview with rockstar's Dan Houser, read it here.

- Here's some more pics / screenshots I gathered from here and there;

News is now really on a roll, here's a selection of stuff I have come across today;

- IGN is having a GTA V week, with new articles and info daily, with amongst other things a full write-up of a GTA V mission (spoilers) and the V things you need to know about GTA V.

- The same mission IGN describes has appearantly been seen by several sites and news sources, as it makes a regular occurance in the first previews popping up

- A lot of new screenshots are seeing daylight with all these previews and info being released, and machinima has collected a nice bunch of them in this slideshow.

Below I'll post a few new screens that particularly sparked my interest;

Cars look quite smooth and detailed

01cars.jpg

A nice look at an industrial area, which seems to be pretty good sized too, still trying o wrap my mind around the fact that the mapsize will be like 5 times that of red dead redemption...

02industry.jpg

These natural surroundings just look great, really inviting for some 4x4 offroading too...

03trainbridge.jpg

Here's what our 3 main characters look like in game

04mainchar.jpg

Nice view over Los Santos, it also seems like the weapon arsenal has been modernized quite a bit...

05city.jpg

What strikes me about this screen is how crisp, clear and with vibrant colors this screen is, no more constant IV grey gloominess it seems, though I must admit nearly every screenshot rockstar releases seems to be taken at sunset/rise...

So far for this update, trailer time soon!

lmao JK, I guess it's not always that bad that console doesn't have mods :lol:
Gosh, how do people even get the idea to make something like this lol

Anyway, not much news today, I've had a little look into finding any information about a pc version, but after an hour of searching and reading I could only find one official rockstar statement about the pc version which was "we are concentrating on the console versions for now". So sorry, looks like it isn't likely to get any news on a pc version anytime soon.

Here's a couple of new screenshots that nicely show the scale of los santos. On some older screens I recognize old parts from SA, but from the looks of it the city has grown considerably. Anyway, heres the screens, if I find any interesting news I'll make sure to post it here :)

Thanks little p!, nice to know it's being appreciated :)

As for news, I got a bunch more today;

- Gameinformer has posted a Grand Theft Auto V reader Q&A which is quite interesting. 3 pages full of questions so lots of info to be found there.

Can you play as one of the three characters throughout the whole game, or do you have to switch? Could I play it three times through and have a different perspective of the story each time?
You cannot play the entire game with just one character. Think of the narrative like a movie with several lead characters. Sometimes you’re only watching one of them, and other times they are all in the same scene. This is basically how Grand Theft Auto V is modeled. Sometimes you have to do a solo mission with Trevor, Michael, or Franklin to advance the story. Other times you will have two or three of the leads working together on a mission. When you are in those missions, however, many times you will have a choice of who you control.
- IGN posted an interview with Rockstar's Dan houser, and it's a good read too since they ask better questions then lets say a NY newspaper...

GTA V is only confirmed for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Why not the PC, Wii U and so on?
Everything else is up for consideration. That's all I can give you. The main thing is we are not... we are a third-party publisher. We're not Nintendo, we're not Sony, we're not Microsoft. We love all of them in different ways. But we can do what we want wherever there's the appropriate business opportunity and chance to find a market. If that's on Apple we put something on Apple. Wherever it might be. I think that's the fun in what we do. We see ourselves as a content company that uses technology. We don't make it; we use it to make the most fun stuff.
- ASDA, an UK online shop has listed a releasedate for GTA V being May 17 2013. Ofcourse without Rockstar confirming anything and releasedates not exactly being set in stone by default, it remains to be seen if this is or will remain true. But still, it's as close to a date as we've been so far.

gta-v-release-date-625x252.jpg

- I've also got a couple of new screenshots, I'll just post the interesting ones showing the most surroundings, feel free to check the IGN image gallery for example to see if you missed any interesting pics. That's all from me for today, I'll keep you posted ;)
