Gta v

Well, it seems like last week was indeed as eventful as Rockstar promised it would be, with all the pictures, interviews, trailer, info and whatever more there was. That does mean however that the buzz is dying a bit this week, but I still managed to get some new stuff together from the past couple of days :)

- Starting with another interview with Dan Houser, this time by The Guardian (more about GTA in general)

- Someone has been busy and has compared a large amount of GTA V landmarks from the screens and videos to their real life counterparts in Los Angelos and its surrounding area. Have a look to see where Rockstar gets its inspiration from.

- While the president of Nintendo US, Reggie Fils-Aime, speaks out his hope to get GTA V to the Wii-U in an MTV interview, concerned PC players take matters into their own hands and started an online petition to ensure GTA V will be released on the PC platform. At the moment I wrote this 15,266 people signed the petition with the goal of getting at least 100,000 to do so. Personally I think online petitions, especially the ones having to do with gaming are about as useful as Duke in a plane in BF42, but it's a nice gesture I suppose.

- Game Informer posted an article about who's who in GTA V, giving an in depth description of each of the three lead characters in the game, which pretty much gathers all possible info from past week on our protagonists.

- And I'm finishing this post with the GTA V trailer #2 remade in GTA IV. It's a dirty job but someone's got to do it. (And it kind of shows how Rockstar managed to make another step forward in quality while staying on the same platform (console) if you compare it to the original trailer, which was, rockstar confirmed, all ingame footage and nothing pre-rendered)

While the inflow of news is dried up for now and most sites revert to overanalysing last weeks info, and the more obscure game sites are finally discovering something happend in the gta v realm last week, I still managed to find a tidbit of news today.

Appearantly someone discovered a GTA V PC version up for pre-order in an EB games store, and made the following photo to prove it. Whether EB games is just being very premature, or downright wrong since Rockstar basicly has refused to so much as mention a possibility of a pc version, or perhaps it's just a photoshop, i'll leave that up to your imagination. It's a straw to clutch at though for the pc users.

A small update on the GTA V universe;

- Releasedates are popping up on all kinds of store and pre-order websites, but they differ up to 2 months when it comes to the mentioned date, so no sense to be made there, though may 7th is the most mentioned date so far.

- The 'Release GTA V on PC' petition has been signed over 69.000 times so far.

- Rockstar has organized a Los Santos Photo Viewer Collection Giveaway. You'll need a facebook account to participate though.

- no pics no fun, so here's a nice piece of fan art I came across;

Btw, you can download any artwork at desktopsize here.

Rockstar has also updated their site to have all screenshots up to date here, check if you have missed any.

I love the GTA games, I played the hell out of IV. But, when I watched the trailer for V I wasn't thrilled. I don't know why, it just didn't excite me as much. I'll still probably get it, but maybe not on release week if I don't see something more.

Yep, thats a broad interpretation of 'spring', unless rockstar ment spring on the southern hemisphere... But it is an official releasedate.

Read more about the later date here.

My God does this game ever look amazing!
Do you believe these shots? I mean, I can't believe they could squeeze that out of a PS3 let alone a 360... They look too good to be true! I want to be proved wrong, it's just I can't get my head round how they intend to pull this off!?

Pretty impressive indeed they manage to pull that out of 8 year old hardware.

Nice screens, thanks for the update Shilka.

Any word on what the controls and camera are gonna be like? I tried GTA IV a while back on the X360 and the controls and camera issues drove me insane. I've piloted boats that were more responsive, and the camera always seemed about a half second behind where I needed it to be. Plus, my annoying cousin always calling me to go get burgers with him when I'm trying to survive a shootout got old.

I ignored Roman as much as possible, he was a gigantic PITA!

However Little Jacob and Brucy were some of the best characters in the game.

I liked them, yeah. Trouble was, I gave up on the game completely after trying multiple times to beat Brucy's stupid race job. The cars control like shit in that game, and I was tired of fighting with the controls/camera. some claimed they were more "realistic," but I would submit that those are people who have CLEARLY NEVER DRIVEN A CAR.

I'm hoping the cars in this game are more responsive and the camera doesn't suck, but I'll wait to see what they say.

Sometimes it bugged me in the scripted sequences that there was only ONE way to beat the thing -- eg., you have to chase them to THIS point to kill them in a suitably cinematic fashion. You can't run them off the road or whatever.

I found that L.A. Noire was MUCH better for this kind of stuff, and actually is a lot of fun. Plus, the cars -- even as 1940s beasts -- control better.
