Re: How has does everyone feel about our Community ID?
It has boosted our rankings on the internet but this is a slow process that we'll see grow over time. One of the deciding factors to how well you rank is how often new and unique content is posted and aside from the iRacing Forum, it doesn't happen around here near often enough.
That's not a complaint, it's a simple fact.
As it stands, the SEO Testing on our iRacing Forum has boosted us up to between Page 3 and Page 4 in Google SERPS.
The Internet portion takes time. We have absolutely no trust rank with Google so we have to work hard to get there.
I do agree though that it rallied us together because we've not been near as stagnant since that period.
Not to start that argument again, but I don't think that even quarter of a percent of growth in gaming communities comes from SEO.
The vast, vast, vast majority of growth comes from active advertising in game and on official game/steam forum, an active presence in the game itself actively "inviting" others to join us on voice comms and play together, and activity on game servers; by which I mean a community game server that is high pop and attracts players. I believe we've also both personally been very successful through recruiting on Twitch, I've personally lured in 30~ active members from twitch alone in the past few weeks.
[And holy fuck, I got 42 follows in one night Saturday night, fucking Christ that was insane.]
I am almost 30 years old, I've been active on the internet since the age of 5, and I have quite literally never searched other people out to play a game with based off of a google or internet search.
But alas, I don't want to start that argument again. We've both already agreed we don't see eye to eye on the importance of growth based on how we rank on google SOE. I'm just publicly stating my opinion.
I genuinely think the stress and reward of finally getting a name/brand we can all agree with and rally around has given enough of us a kick in the ass to really get things going around here. I am truly proud of what we've all accomplished, and I look forward towards the future expecting to improve and build on the growth, and ensure we've learned from past mistakes and don't allow history to repeat itself.
