Voice chat - 3 month ban

So I got banned from voice chat today for 3 months.
Reference the thread here: http://members.iracing.com/jforum/posts/list/3290490.page

I posted to try to hear people's opinion, but it got locked for unknown reasons. Summary of event: Carb Cup: I was 3rd place, drafting behind 2nd. 2nd couldn't hold his line a turn, went 2 lanes high, I got into his spot, he comes down a bit and 2 seconds later, turns into me on purpose (full wheel rotation in cockpi view). I said: "F you man, F this" and I left. He protested me for that and apparently I get this.

Not to mention about dozen past protests I've made against such behaviour, yet nothing came out of them ("avoidable incidents") and I've sent several emails to iRacing and never got any replies. Nim (alegedly iR steward) told me in twitch chat that he doesn't want to talk in private about the issue and I should appeal. I used my only appeal I get in 12 week season.

Opinions?

One thing you have to learn is some people suck at driving, are dicks in general, or just plain make mistakes. That and the fact that it's a game.

I'm normally one to get pretty angry (You should see me when I play system-link with my buddies) but I've made it a point to not escalate any issue. I've been rear-ended, punted, etc plenty of times for dumb reasons. Nothing will change the fact that I still got punted. I just sigh and move on... it happens even in the pros. I wait for an apology and that is honestly the most I can hope for. And indeed does make me feel better, a small consolation / victory.

If it is especially a bad event - I'd consider protesting it but I've not experienced anything malicious yet. Rarely there will be no apology forthcoming from the person that punted me, and if it is a rather crappy punt I might ask, you know, "what was that?" or "what happened??"

But anger won't solve very much at all. And as someone pointed out in the forums (sorry if I'm being forward about it) that it IS a carb cup race. You cannot expect clean racing from it no matter what. It is meant to be a fun, no harm, no foul quick pick-up race.

I'll respond more later but I honestly think you're risking a ban in the forums as well, maybe even a suspension of service.

This is the second topic of this nature that was posted publicly today and that topic has also been removed. My guess is yours may be next.

They really don't want their laundry in the public forums especially when one was sent to you as a PM.

If I were you I'd PM Nim and ask him to remove the topic and use it as a lead into discussion with him.

Duke, I understand what you're saying and I did wait before saying anything.
Now, WHY would I get forums ban or suspension of service? There are NO rules on forums about posting anything and it's in complaints section. If they push it to suspension, I'll get my money back. All of it. And I can. It's just utter BS if they do it.

Well as my post stated - what are you hoping to accomplish in posting it there? Just like what does someone hope to accomplish by yelling at the guilty party?

My point is nothing. The forum goers aren't responsible for lifting bans. It is simply stirring a cauldron whether you're guilty or not; whether you're in the right or wrong.

I don't want to say that they would but you have to understand that this is service and an expensive one at that. They probably don't want everyone seeing this type of content especially when it quickly escalates to argumentative which is commonplace around iRacing Forums.

iRacing is a great community but it has it's fair share of trolls looking to stir the pot as well.

All fine and dandy, but when they're blatantly closing threads and banning people without any notice or chance to defend their cases, I call that dictatorship. If I wanted that, I wouldn't be part of iRacing. Ignoring paying members doesn't get them car either.

I'd chalk it up to a learning experience buddy. If angry, don't hit that "push to talk" key and don't hit the chat key either. Cuss the dude out all you want but just do it in the privacy of your own home/mind ;)

You swearing at him isn't going to change what happened it'll just land you in hot water unfortunately.

Sucks but it's their train set and their rules.

If I were you I'd just take a step back, chill out, send the pm explaining you have already used the appeal and take it from there.

Goosfraba.

You have to see it from their side buds and to be honest if I saw a member in distress airing dirty laundry in public I can't say I'd handle it much different.

This type of discussion is not meant for public consumption in any community; I'd be surprised if anyone would let it pass for long.

...and my guess is they would contact the member responsible to let them know why their post was removed.

Of course this is all speculative but let me ask you, does it feel right to you to post a private message in a public forum?

It's not a dictatorship, it's keeping argumentative content out of reach of the Community. All these posts do is go sideways because, like Politics, nobody ever agrees.

If I felt that the message that said nothing specific about anything, or anything useful to anyone, wasn't meant to go on public forum, I wouldn't post it, but when I saw it, I wanted everyone to see the lack of any sort of process when dealing with protests. I have several replays and have submitted a dozen protests and nothing.

All things aside, what ticked me the most is that they aren't prompt to respond to their own customers, yet they'll deliver one-sided bans like this, no problem.

Also, who is this Nim guy? What's his full name? His replies in chat didn't sound very encouraging either.

Didn't call yet, lot of phone problems (khm, Blackberry) and I'm on my work rotation. Not in a rush to call them.
