The Last of Us Reviews

I've been reading a lot of reviews for Naughty Dog's The Last of Us and so far the lowest score I've come across is 8 out of 10. Most seem to be giving it 5/5 or 10/10 citing what is essentially a paradox.

The Last of Us is not an overly enjoyable game. It's dark, unforgiving and extremely violent yet the story is an incredibly touching human tale of survival and hope all encapsulated in the lopsided beauty presented by the decay of the world as we know it.

The Last of Us runs about 17 hours and most reviewers are saying that it's the perfect amount of time for the game to run; many didn't want it to end.

I can't wait to hook up my friends PS3 and play the game myself.

State of Decay is like a Day-Z "lite" really.

"Not enjoyable" the way Dark Souls: Prepare To Launch Your Controller Through Your TV was? Or "Not enjoyable" in the sense of you won't be hooting in elation as you kick the shit out of alien grunts with your plasma rifle and phased-neutronium grenades?

Apparently a few reviewers went as far to say they were both emotionally and physically exhausted after playing the game.

It's not just the kind of game where you mindlessly shoot your way through sh1t and take little to nothing away from it. This game tells a dark story and immerses you in it and the world in which it takes place.

There are no moral choices either, it is what it is, dark, violent and unpleasant.

...and many are touting it the best game created for the PS3.

That's fine. I can handle that no problem. What I can't stand is games that think "Difficulty that will make you want to destroy expensive electronics gear" = "fun." Which was definitely the former.

I wonder if this one's coming out for the X360 or PC?

Yeah, wish it had multiplayer but they just didn't have the budget/time to release the mmo they wanted, but if they sell enough copies of SoD (which it looks like they have) then we've got something to look forward to...

By the way, I've been active on their forums and I've never seen such involvement from the developers with their community, it's just unbelievably good. Bodes well for the future!

They never ported uncharted so I guess we will never see this game. Naughty Dog only likes Sony Little P.

My friend just gave me his PS3 today so I'll be hooking it up tonight in anticipation of playing The Last of Us this weekend.
