Teamspeak Issues

Doesn't godaddy allow you to "just" create a subdomain and point it to an ip?

d00kie, i've made an attempt to explain this to you before, but we'll need a SRV-record to make that work.
More info here: https://support.teamspeakusa.com/index.php?/Knowledgebase/Article/View/293/12/does-teamspeak-3-support-dns-srv-records
Wappy, you speaking intelligently about anything is off-putting, impossible to believe and alters my version of reality.

I think that's TSDNS and I'm not sure if it will work if the subdomain is on a different server than TS is, not sure?

I just haven't read up on any of this stuff to wrap my head around it.

Wappy since you seem to know so much why don't you tell me what you need and you do it? You obviously know more about it than I do so it's better you handle it.

So do we want to start load testing this new Server now Quick?

If so, can you get me code so I can put it in the sidebar? With the weekend coming up it's the perfect time to flood the new TS with bodies and see how it does.

Sure go ahead, i'll get on as soon as i finish dinner so i can set the required permissions for the tsviewer query.

If we want to be able to connect to the server without adding a port number, creating a DNS A-record and pointing it to the IP-address of the TeamSpeak server will work. This will only work if the server is listening on the default port (I think that's the case, since we 'own' the server).
Example: DNS A teamspeak.bandofothersgaming.com, target: 192.168.1.1 (external IP ts-server)

However, if the port will change from default for whatever reason, we'll need a SRV-record.

An A-record works fine :)

Edit:

TSviewer block updated to show new server.

Changing the ip to the hostname can be done in a jiffy if the sub is setup.

You, from webhosting panel.
Or ask them in a ticket to make ts3.bandofothersgaming.com forward to 46.249.52.184

Well WHM or cPanel should be able to do this with no issue although I've never forwarded a subDomain so I've no idea really.

We can go through it when you get home if you want to?
Shouldn't be to hard to get it done over ts.

I'll do my best to hop on but it may have to wait until Saturday. My dance card is pretty full the next few days.

Just an FYI, the other Server has been cancelled and should be down permanently within the next week or so if it hasn't been removed already.

Nice work, seems the new one is running like a charm so we should be save for the upcoming time :)

You on today?

<19:48:40> Connected to Server: "Band of Others"

I don't think this was at my end as I was watching YouTube and Twitch stream and none dropped.

Also, local network access seemed to remain fine.

Hmm, i'll have to check.
The times in your log are local times?

I've talked to Oxz, and it is in line with back up times.
However, the back up shouldn't be clogging the connection to the point where it is unreachable so he'll take a look at it.

Thanks for pointing it out Duke.

I was in when the exact same happened to Doc at the exact same time as your issue.

But the odd thing was, Doc was the only one to lose contact for exactly 2 minutes.
Everyone else in channel/server remained connected and the server wasn't being back upped or anything.

I have a feeling this isn't a problem on our side but something in the path that goes overseas.

It's quite possible it's a hop but when 50% of your playerbase is North American this has the potential to become an issue.

Is it possible to change the backup to occur at a time of day when nobody is on TS?
