Team Fortress 2 Server Test

I was wondering if a few of you mind helping me out?

I have a TF2 Server installed on my backup computer and have run it successfully LAN and even online (to a limited degree). Having said that, I'm unsure of whether or not my rig can handle more traffic and or even if my bandwidth allows for it.

...my guess is yes to both but I'd still love to test it out.

Are a few of you willing to install the game (free on Steam) and connect to my Server with me just to give it a trial run?

I want to have a Band of Others Bash (or b00b for short) and use TF2 as the game of choice (just for starters).

TF2 will run on virtually any hardware and is comically stupid you can't help but have fun playing it.

Ideally I'd love to have between 5 - 10 players connect and we'll test the Server with and without bots.

Please let me know if you're interested.

Ya I considered that so it may be better if someone else streams to our channel and I'll record it locally and upload the highlights to YouTube.

What mode are you planning to run? I've had some good fun in prop Hunt

Probably Standard Control Point as it's a game mode that virtually everyone is already familiar with.

We can always switch it up later if we decide something else is better suited but for now I just want to make it accessible for everyone, particularly those unfamiliar with the game.

As a side note and quick allready mentioned this , Prop Hunt is a good candidate for meetups like this too

I'm sure it is and we can certainly give it a go but so far I've no experience with the game mode and I'm sure that all maps don't support it.

Right now the only maps I have loaded are the ones that support Standard Control Point and are favored by my daughter and I lol.

I'll branch out to other maps and game modes in the near future.

...assuming these get-togethers are even remotely successful.

Prop hunts is not a map for TF2 , its a game mode in garry's mod , where one team hides in the form of a prop (hence the name) and the other team are hunters looking for said props and have to kill them .

As far as i know they both have the prop hunt mode
And all maps can be played in prop Hunt.
It's got an easy setup as it is a steam workshop supported game/mod.

Yeah never mind , i ws both right and wrong , tf2 and garry's mod have the prop hunt mode .
I didnt even know about the tf2 version . Still a very fun game mode though

Well we can certainly try it but as I'm not setup for it I'd like to table that discussion until we've confirmed I can even run a server lol.

It's been a long time since I've launched and ran the TF2 Server so it's likely going to take hours just for the Server files to update :icon_rolleyes:

I guess you must've started the download by now then?

lol no, I had to re-format a friends computer and re-install everything including Rosetta Stone (crap that takes longer to install than Windows).

It took 12 hours for the Computer to reach 50% startup during a Boot Scan and the system files that were erroring didn't exist, at least I couldn't find them lol.

This Computer was in such rough shape that I tried to boot up, got tired of waiting, had a shit, shower and as I was cooking breakfast it finally got up to Windows.

I just gave that Computer back so my backup hasn't been plugged in or ran for a while.

I can't imagine what awaits me this time given the Cmos Battery is dead lol.

Ahw, Yeah hardware capable of being that slow should be banned from any usage/service

The battery depends, could just be the time and date if your lucky

Anyway, if the server doesn't want to run over at yours.... I or one of the others could host it with no problem.

Just had 2 hrs of hosting a game of The Hunter and streaming HiDef at the same time with no problem at all so TF2 shouldn't be a problem either.

So far it looks like only 3 of us lol but that's ok because I'll probably be running bots as well and the bots are bl00dy good!

I didn't really want to announce it as I'm not sure how well this is going to go and I only wanted to involve people who may be around anyway.

If we can get it to work and it runs smooth enough, we'll post an announcement on it as I'd love to run one of these Community Game Days asap.
