Thought I'd get this started. June 4-5 is iRacing's Nurburgring 24 hours. There are 4 classes running:

Audi R8 LMS GT3 - Daunt, Peeble, Ken, Steve, Chris
Ruf C-Spec - Noodle, Incdnry, Zac, Davey, Jes Justin
Kia Optima - Incndry
Global Mazda MX-5 - ID?, Peeble

This looks like it will be an incredibly fun, challenging race.

Please reply in this thread if you are willing to commit to a team. At this point I'm no sure if we'll have one or multiple teams (and with the same or different cars) but I'm sure we will have at least 1 team.

When replying, specify the car you would prefer, and the other cars you'd be willing to drive.

I'm going to drive the Audi... surprise!

June 4th is coincidentally the day I'm going to the Belle Isle Grand Prix so early on I'm not going to be able to do any stints.

I'd be down for the Mazda or Kia. But I will have to make sure I am not on call that week before committing.

Trying to figure out what configuration we'll use. Not sure if it's the 24h Gesamstecke or just nordschleife? Can't find anything definitive on the forums.

Yes, the layout is the Gesamtstrecke 24h.

Lap times I've seen so far in hosted sessions with similar to default weather are something like this:
Audi: 8:25
C-Spec: 8:47
Kia: ?
Global thing: 9:xx (high 9 minutes I believe)

I don't feel much for the Audi around here. It's not my favorite GT3 car and on a difficult track you would have to drive a difficult car right? :D

I'm pretty stubborn on driving the C-Spec at the moment (even after all it did to me at Bathurst). It feels great on the track and it is faster than the Audis on the straight :p.

That's pretty surprising to see the C-specs are that close to the GT3. They might be a pain around here.

I've updated the OP with everyone's car preferences to keep track. This might prove difficult- seems we might have one of each car...

Hey guys I wanna join up with yall to do this... pending my availability

but my car choices are: Kia/ C-Spec.

haha

If you guys have enough to muster a c-spec, I'd be willing to fill a couple of stints if needed. I know the car and track pretty well. As long as the setup is tame.

I have taken that weekend off of work, so I'll be available for some stints. Preferably the C-spec but I can fill in anywhere needed really.

Awesome. That makes about five for the c spec which is very respectable.

Three for the Audi. I'd prefer four or maybe five for a 24h race.

Definitely going to want to practice this heavy because I'm shit in the Audi and shit on this track.

We have our Community Gameday today (Apr 30) so I'd suggest 4 hour sessions every Saturday up until the event.

Kyle, do you know if there's any imagery rules or guidelines for this event that I can add to the Liveries?

I will look to practice it heavily as well. Thankfully week 11 for the official series runs the same exact track so we'll kill two birds with one stone practicing that a lot that week.

You mean the ADAC rules regarding it? I'll see if I can dig them up.

I found the online entry form for it, which is pretty interesting. 6,300 entry fee:

https://24h-information.de/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/24h-Rennen-Nennformular-2016-EN.pdf

I believe this is the full race rules and regulations: http://www.vln.de/includes/download.php?file=../teilnehmer/Ausschreibungen/2016-Regulations.en.pdf

According to section 19.2-
19.2 Advertising and start numbers on the race cars

REMINDER: Any variations of the FIA/DMSB Regulations are subject to a special waiver issued by the DMSB.

The following advertising spaces on the cars and on the drivers’ overalls must be reserved for the VLN or for the organiser:

  • The spaces which are normally provided for the front and rear registration plates, dimension: 45 x 12 cm. The boards designated for this area must be attached by screws or bolts and may in no way be modified, bended or folded. Stickers in the same size are allowed. Changes must be registered with the Technical Committee of the VLN.
  • Spaces on the front right and left mudguards, above the wheel centre, only on the vertical mudguard area, horizontally to the road surface (not inclined).
  • VLN or the organiser will make available start number panels (one set per yearfree of charge) including the allocated start number. Only these original panels and start numbers in black and white may be used.

I think it's a good idea to do some practices on Saturdays. We should definitely not step into this race without plenty of practice.

We're also going to need to confirm teams relatively soon, otherwise we'll end up in the same situation as Sebring where we weren't sure who was racing or not within a week of the race.
