Blender Buddies

For many years now I've wanted to to create stunning 3d models, learn rigging, animation and skinning.

There's only one problem, I lack focus, oh, and talent; also drive, motivation, and direction are sadly absent.

BUT, there's hope, I think.

This forums goal is to corral like-minded individuals into one place where we can learn together.

If you're interested in joining us on the journey, feel free to jump in any time at any skill level. Even though I'm a professional artist, I work mostly 2D, so I'll be learning (and raging) along with everyone else.

I'm also typically a 2D artist, amateur with sporadic training from various styles and levels of professionality.

3D has always been an interest but I often don't have the brain or focus. So I come for the encouraging peer pressure of community learning.

What we need to do if you both are open to it, is get into Discord one night for 30 - 60 minutes and see if we can come up with a small enough project to get familiar with UI and low level modelling.

Anything but the donut though, don't know why but that project just irritates me.

...or, can we figure a way to make the donut more interesting? Maybe with a bite out of it, discarded near some dark corner in a sp00ky alleyway with some hobo sleeping near it?

Better yet, use some of your illustrative imagination and render it into some kind of monster possibly aiding us in dipping into the world of rigging and animation?

I fucking hate the donut, too. It's a very long tutorial, but at least it teaches the methods. I wouldn't mind starting with Jocat's sketch thing. It's not super practical, but I think the things we'll learn will be.

Which Discord do you have in mind? I know Laiat does have a channel in his server for Blender Buddy shenanigans so I'd vote there. What days/times are most free for everyone?

I'm in Central time and I'm most free Thursday evenings, Fridays, and Tuesdays. (Dentist appointment Tuesday may 23rd though)

A Donut that's a Mimic with a ton of eyeballs sounds like a frustrating and intriguing challenge. Or you can turn the donut into That Car Tire that everyone tried to roll down a hill in. "Guess the flavor of my filled donut"

Alternatively just a beachball, a small frog, pokeball, ring of fire....

I've a pretty full dance card, currently he only free time I have is around iRacing League Friday nights and Saturday's earlier in the day.

I stream pretty much all Friday, and I do not wake up before noon. We may have to wait until some of your race seasons wrap up.

lol, sorry @ZanitySystem, I couldn't have been more vague if I tried.

I live on the West Coast of Canada, Pacific Time so 9 AM PST (noon EST) is about as early as I can commit to.

I'm setting up a new computer and space. I'm excited to start digging through the master tutorials list that Laiat made to get familiar with blender.

I haven't yet just because my computer's memory has been pretty full up
