Let's go race GT3 cars at Spa! That's right, it's another 24 hour race at a historic and storied track. This time it's all GT3, all the time: Audi R8 LMS / Mercedes AMG GT3 / BMW Z4 GT3 / McLaren MP4-12C GT3 / Ford GT GT3

Drivers:

Audi R8 LMS

Mercedes AMG GT3

  • Ken Lindberg (1st choice)

BMW Z4 GT3

McLaren MP4-12C GT3

  • Matt Holmes (1st choice)
  • Ken Lindberg (2nd choice)
  • Noel (1st choice)

My obvious first choice is the Macca, but under the assumption that we may not field a Macca team, the Mercedes is my strong second choice.

I'll run Macca or Merc, my preference being Merc as it's more likely to be in one piece around here after 24 hours.

I'll do whatever's best for our teams and driving the Merc is probably the smarter choice for that reason. The Macca is a handful and asking people who don't drive it regularly to keep it on the track for several stints is not real fair.

For me they're very close at Spa but my first choice would be the McLaren MP4dash12C and my second choice would be the Mercedes SLS.

Time of day will be afternoon according to forum and Robin Esterson

Starts: Rolling
Time of Day: Afternoon
Field size: 60 Cars
Race length: 24 Hours (1440 minutes)
Weather (Default):
- Temperature: 78° F
- Wind Speed: N @ 2 MPH
- Atmosphere: 55 RH, 0% Fog Cover
- Skies: Partly Cloudy

i'll pass on this one because of a knee injury.
i've never drove spa anyway and my "love" for GT3 doesn't help :p

good luck with the race and preparation guys!

My flight doesn't leave for Frankfort until 4:10. Do you think I could take one stint early before I head out?

I can run either car. As much as it is unpatriotic of me to say that the Merc is an understeering pig, I can easily race the McLaren. In fact, I would prefer to run something different for a change.

1st choice: McLaren
2nd choice: AMG
3rd choice: Ford GT3

I will be able to drive anytime between 12pm and 7pm EST so feel free to slot me in for 2,3 or 4 stints.

VRS set for the merc isn't bad:

Briefly tried the McLaren, and on Spa, it was constantly trying to kill me. Seems like you need to run the nose really high to get an even rake and the wing seems to do nothing at high speed. Especially at Blanchimont (the fast left-hander kink before the bus stop), the car is trickier to drive than through Eau Rouge... and that's no walk in the park. It has also been a long time since I've driven that car so I'm open to tips.

As much as the AMG is an understeering, squealing pig it seems far safer and easier to drive for 24H.
