Caught a little bit of Sony's panel last night and holy crap there is some amazing looking stuff coming.
New God of War looks like it is moving on from Ancient Greek and taking on some Norse mythology. Also he grew a beard which makes him even more bad ass:
Days Gone looks interesting, from the gameplay they showed I didn't get much from it story wise other than the standard "don't get eated by zombies". What caught my eye was the fact that they have potentially hundreds of zombies rendered at one time and the AI looked so fluid with zombies scrambling over stuff and dead bodies to get at the character.
One of the guys I work with mentioned it was going to be slated as Last of Us 2 for a time but got its own title, I assume that is because an actual sequel is probably in the works.
Hideo Kojima also put out a trailer for his new game "Death Stranding". Not much to say about this one, it's a fancy trailer with no real hints to gameplay or story other than Norman Reedus is in it and Guillermo del toro is directing it. Warning: Slightly NSFW, there is some CGI'd Reedus butt in the trailer.
There were a ton of other awesome games announced as well:
- Resident Evil 7 - Looks like a return to the horror survival genre for the RE series.
- The Last Guardian - Oh god don't get attached, feels will be force fed in this one I am pretty sure.
- Horizon Zero Dawn - A little more this year than last. I feel like this could be amazing or fall victim to being just another nondescript open world adventure game.
- Detroit - Not 100% sure if it is my kind of game but it looks interesting. I feel like there is only so much choose your own adventure you can have while maintaining a reasonable amount of content in a full game.
- Gran Turismo 7 - Oh god I hope it has good single player. I've been jonesing for a simcade with a decent single player story or some kind of progression for a while.
Honestly my PS4 hasn't been used much outside of some Destiny and Rocket League while my PC has been busted but I think I will likely be buying a lot more games in the near future, or at least as the games are release.
What do you guys think? I missed the Microsoft panel but it seems to be a consensus where I am that Sony effectively "won" E3 so far.
